Sambhal: Case against Samajwadi MP, Akhilesh Yadav says riot by Yogi government

A day after violent clashes over a court-ordered mosque survey in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal led to four deaths, a case has been filed against MP and Samajwadi Party leader Ziaur Rahman Barq and local MLA Iqbal Mehmood’s son Sohail Iqbal. The two – among six named in seven FIRs filed in connection with the violence – have been accused orchestrating violence, mobilising crowds, and provoking unrest, officials said.
The FIR has further fuelled a bitter political blame game; while Akhilesh Yadav and other opposition parties have accused the Yogi Adityanath government of “orchestrating a riot”, the ruling BJP has accused rivals of fomenting unrest since their defeat in the Lok Sabha polls.
